Dr. Harshad Sanghvi, MD, FACC
Medical Director ICC, Lifestyle Program
As a medical director of the new initiative of Lifestyle Program at ICC, Dr. Sanghvi focuses on educating our community members to raise the awareness of a 2-4 fold higher risk of heart disease in south asians and need for lifestyle changes which can significantly lower this risk. He also helps develop protocols for Aim to Prevent and Screening programs, and publishes the heart myths every year during the Heart month.
Dr. Sanghvi is a Medical Graduate from Baroda Medical College earning an MBBS and MD (Internal Medicine) at M.S. University, Baroda, India. After finishing post graduation, he worked as an Intensive Care Unit Registrar at Jaslok Hospital and Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, India. He did Internal Medicine Residency at Englewood Hospital, Englewood, NJ where he earned a Pfizer Best Physician award. He did Cardiology Fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Cleveland, OH.
Harshad V. Sanghvi, MD, FACC, is a board-certified Cardiologist in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He served as a Chief of Cardiology and Intensive Care Unit Director for 30 years at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, Ware, MA
Dr. Sanghvi has participated in several cardiovascular research studies and his principal interests include clinical and preventive cardiology, emerging epidemic of heart disease in the South Asian community with emphasis on the modifiable risk factors, lipid disorders, ischemic heart disease, and women’s health.
Harshad and his wife Chetana have been actively involved in supporting Jain Center of Greater Boston and Jain Sangh of New England in the greater Boston area since they moved to Western MA 35 years ago. They have also been involved as active supporters and volunteers in several non-profit organizations like Ekal Vidyalaya, Vision-Aid, Veerayatan International, Jaina, Bidada, and Akshaya Patra Foundation.
Personal, Hobbies, and other Interests:
Harshad and wife Chetana live in Wilbraham, MA. Chetana has worked as a Business Manager for Harshad’s practice. Sanghvi’s are blessed to have 3 grown up children, Amisha, Asmi, and Somil. Amisha is a Marketing Director at Channel, NY, Asmi is a Cosmetic Dermatologist in NY, and Somil is a Financial Consultant in Chicago. Sanghvi’s are also volunteers for Isha Foundation of Sadguru, and practice meditation Sambhavi on a regular basis.
Educating community members by raising awareness about heightened risk of heart disease in South Asians by Webinars, publishing heart myths, and helping tirelessly our community members in USA and India for their cardiac and medical conditions by phone is his passion, hobby, and interest. In his free time he loves to play bridge.
